Here’s something I didn’t even know. Lets all celebrate!
It’s National Manufactured Housing Week.
“Manufactured housing is a significant source of affordable housing that opens the doors to home ownership for families, who in many of the nation’s housing markets, cannot afford to buy a site-built home,” according to a news release from Columbia Legal Services and the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance.
The two groups are part of the 5-year-old national Innovations in Manufactured Homes (I’M HOME) initiative, which advocates for policies that benefit manufactured housing and home owners and funds a local Columbia Legal Services community organizer.
“Maintaining a variety of affordable housing choices in a community helps young families and seniors maintain their access to good jobs, quality education, and health care close to home,” Ishbel Dickens, staff attorney at Columbia Legal Services, said in the news release. “Preserving manufactured home communities for the residents is a crucial part of maintaining that housing choice.”
