Choosing a home may look as basic as picking out a new manufactured home, but there are some things you will need to consider before plunking down your cash. However, thinking of what size home and the design you prefer is primarily the starting point. By doing research first, you can save yourself stress down the line.
Though it is sometimes possible to find manufactured homes in three sections, most are available in single and double sections. Each style will have varied floor plans so you should look them over carefully to be sure the size and plan fits your lifestyle. The spot where you plan to place your manufactured home is practically as important as to the size and for the most part, the cost of the home doesn’t include the land on which it will be based.
At the beginning of the process, make sure to keep your focus on the home itself. After you’ve chosen the home you like, it’s time to do a little investigating. If you’re investing in a private lot, ensure the local zoning ordinances allow manufactured housing to be established. Certain communities may also limit the dimensions of manufactured homes in certain areas.
After you choose the land, remember it’ll need to be prepped for the manufactured home like the pad on which it will sit, a driveway and utility connections such as water and sewer lines along with plumbing and electrical connections and perhaps a gas line hook-up.
Relating to the strength of the manufactured home, you’ll need to look into the wall construction. You will need walls that have more than the interior and exterior walls attached to the studs. The strongest may have a layer of exterior siding on top of exterior sheathing such as plywood that adds stability to the overall strength of the home.
